Tai Chi

Movement & Meditation Class

MOVEMENT & MEDITATION

Retore your health and join me in a class that reconnects mind and body. Discover movement that is mindful, purposeful, graceful but also challenging. As you learn to reconnect, improve balance, mobility, coordination, control, and strength we restore natural breathing while encouraging the proper flow of energy (Qi). Classes combine movement, traditional Qigong with Yang Style, and cover the 8 and 24 full forms.

QIGONG & WARM-UP

When first learning Tai Chi it's important to grasp the basics of how movement, breath, and energy flow combine. We start with breathing, Qigong, a static and dynamic warm-up flow that consists of movements that will prepare and engage both body and mind. Here we connect, recentre, balance our energy, and prepare the body for movement.

Physical Therapy

8 FORM

Learn all the basic individual movements such as how to step, block, push combined with waving hands. In addition, we will continue movement, breathing, and energy flow throughout the combined 8 Form Flow.

YANG STYLE

24 FULL FORM

Once you have developed the foundations we will advance into movements where tai chi becomes more challenging, adding more complex sequences throughout. This is first broken down into sections before joining them into a seamless flow that connects all aspects of movement, qigong and tai chi into the 24 Full Form.

About the class

The Yang Style is one of the oldest and most popular forms of tai chi. The appeal of this style is the large sweeping, graceful and slow movements. Classes are adapted and progressed strategically and allow you to start easily and continue to practice it safely, enjoying the many health benefits that this wonderful art form brings. This class is suitable for all ages and abilities.

Yang Style

For the martial artist, the yang style allows them to focus more intensely on the internal aspects of tai chi without the distraction of fancy jumps and fast movements.

QiGong

Qigong (pronounced chee-gong) is an ancient Chinese exercise and healing technique that involves meditation, controlled breathing and movement exercises.
